Adam Clark’s 27 points propel Merrimack to a 77-70 overtime victory over Iona

    Adam Clark delivered an impressive performance with 27 points as Merrimack staged a comeback in overtime to defeat Iona 77-70 on Sunday.

    The extra time started off strong for Merrimack, with Bryan Etumnu sinking a 3-pointer, followed by Devon Savage contributing two free throws, allowing the Warriors to maintain their lead. Just before the end of regulation, Clark nailed a jumper with just four seconds remaining, tying the game at 60 and pushing it into overtime.

    In addition to his scoring, Clark showcased his versatility by grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out seven assists for Merrimack, who improved to 15 wins and 13 losses, with a 12-5 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Both Savage and reserve player Tye Dorset played crucial roles, adding 12 points each to the scoreboard, while Etumnu contributed significantly with seven points, nine rebounds, and an impressive six blocked shots.

    For Iona, Dejour Reaves was a standout player, leading the team with 26 points and six rebounds. Comeh Emuobor also made his presence felt, finishing with 20 points and nine rebounds. Luke Jungers added further support with 15 points and four assists, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win, and the Gaels fell to a record of 12-16, with 9 wins and 8 losses in the conference.
