BRUSSELS — The heads of state from the 27 European Union member nations are scheduled to hold an urgent summit on March 6 to discuss the future of Ukraine and the security landscape in Europe.

European Council President Antonio Costa announced the gathering, emphasizing the critical juncture facing both Ukraine and European security in a social media update. He highlighted the importance of this moment for the continent.

Since the last EU leaders’ meeting on February 3, significant changes have occurred, including shifts in U.S. policy under the Trump administration that have disrupted long-standing support for Ukraine and commitments to the defense of European allies.

Additionally, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, along with other EU officials, is set to visit Kyiv on Monday. This visit coincides with the third anniversary of the Russian invasion, serving as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with Ukraine during these challenging times.
