ABILENE, Texas — In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, Leonardo Bettiol led Abilene Christian to an 80-71 win over Utah Tech, contributing significantly to the team’s performance with 19 points.
Bettiol showcased his skills by hitting 8 of his 13 field goal attempts and making 3 out of 4 free throws. He wasn’t alone in the spotlight as Quion Williams also had a strong showing, scoring 18 points with an impressive shooting performance of 7 for 13 from the floor, including a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe. Hunter Jack Madden added to the offensive output, finishing with 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting, although he struggled a bit from three-point range, making just 1 out of 5 attempts.
For the Trailblazers, Noa Gonsalves topped the scoring charts with 18 points while also grabbing two steals. Samuel Ariyibi had a noteworthy game as well, contributing 12 points, pulling down 12 rebounds, and blocking three shots. Hakim Byrd matched him with 12 points as well, but unfortunately for Utah Tech, this loss marked their 10th consecutive defeat of the season.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to take the court again on Thursday. Abilene Christian will travel to face off against Tarleton State, while Utah Tech will host Southern Utah in a bid to turn their fortunes around.
