JACKSON, Miss.
Shannon Grant demonstrated an impressive performance by scoring 25 points, contributing to Jackson State’s victory over Alcorn State with a final score of 71-63 on Saturday night.
In addition to his scoring, Grant showcased his defensive skills by registering four blocks for the Tigers, who now hold a record of 10-17 overall and 10-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Keiveon Hunt also played a pivotal role, adding 16 points along with five assists, while Daeshun Ruffin managed to score 10 points, efficiently converting 3 of 6 attempts from the field and completing all four of his free throw attempts.
For the Braves, who have a season record of 8-18 and 8-6 in conference play, Marcus Tankersley emerged as the top scorer with 18 points.
Additionally, Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt contributed with 13 points and five assists, while Mike Pajeaud added another 12 points to the Braves’ total score.
Looking ahead, both teams will be back in action on Saturday. Jackson State will take on Texas Southern in their next matchup, while Alcorn State will host Prairie View A&M at their home court.
