LAWRENCE, Kan. — Hunter Dickinson delivered a remarkable performance with 16 points and 11 rebounds as part of a dominant display by the No. 23 Kansas Jayhawks, who routed Oklahoma State with a commanding score of 96-64 on Saturday.

The Jayhawks improved their record to 18-9, including 9-7 in Big 12 play, thanks to a balanced offensive strategy that suffocated the Cowboys, limiting them to nearly 30 points under their typical scoring average. The game began slowly for Kansas, but a late first-half surge allowed them to take control. They entered halftime with a significant 29-point advantage and extended their lead to as much as 39 points during the second half.

In addition to Dickinson’s contribution, Kansas saw strong performances from David Coit and Zeke Mayo, who each scored 15 points. Dajuan Harris Jr. had an outstanding all-around performance, contributing 14 points along with five assists and six steals.

On the other side, Oklahoma State, now sitting at 13-14 overall and 5-11 in the conference, was led in scoring by Bryce Thompson, who managed to put up 21 points.

In terms of team statistics, Oklahoma State continues to struggle on the road, marking their eighth consecutive loss away from home in Big 12 action. The team has not secured a victory in Lawrence since 2018. Conversely, Kansas sought a significant win after experiencing a slump that saw them drop four straight games, including back-to-back losses to Utah and BYU.

A pivotal moment in the game occurred when Kansas held a narrow four-point lead, 23-19, with less than nine minutes left in the first half. Harris’s three-pointer ignited a spectacular 19-2 scoring run that effectively put the game out of reach. Within this stretch, Harris assisted KJ Adams on two alley-oop dunks, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the arena.

An important statistic from the match highlighted Kansas’ sharp shooting, as they recorded an impressive 57.1% field goal percentage compared to Oklahoma State’s 36.7%. Notably, the Jayhawks achieved their highest number of three-pointers in a single game this season, hitting 14 shots from beyond the arc, surpassing their previous season opener against Howard where they made 11. They came just three three-pointers shy of breaking the school record.

Looking ahead, Oklahoma State is set to host No. 8 Iowa State on Tuesday night, while Kansas will travel to face Colorado on Monday night, aiming to continue their positive momentum.
