Chattanooga edges out Citadel with a 76-75 victory

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — In a thrilling encounter on Saturday, Bash Wieland scored 17 points, leading Chattanooga to a narrow victory over The Citadel with a final score of 76-75.
Wieland showcased his shooting prowess, hitting 8 of 11 attempts from the field, contributing significantly to the Mocs’ solid performance with a record of 21-8 and 13-3 in the Southern Conference.
Trey Bonham added 15 points to the total, shooting 5 for 13 overall with an impressive 4 for 10 from three-point range.
Honor Huff chipped in with 14 points, though he struggled with his shooting, going 3 for 13 overall and 2 for 11 from beyond the arc. Huff did shine at the free-throw line, making all 6 of his attempts.
The victory marked the Mocs’ ninth consecutive win, solidifying their position in the conference.

On the other side, The Citadel, with a record of 5-22 and 0-16 in the Southern Conference, struggled to find footing. Brody Fox led the Bulldogs with a commendable 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Christian Moore contributed 13 points, while Colby McAllister added 12 points to the team’s effort.
Unfortunately for The Citadel, this defeat extended their losing streak to a daunting 19 games.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga is set to face UNC Greensboro on the road this Thursday, while The Citadel will take on Furman in an away game scheduled for Wednesday.
