LEICESTER, England — Brentford delivered a stunning performance against Leicester City, achieving a resounding 4-0 victory and establishing a new club record for four straight away wins in the Premier League on Friday.
Under the leadership of Thomas Frank, Brentford dominated the match, racing to a 3-0 lead before the halftime break.
The scoring opened when Yoane Wissa capitalized on a brilliant flick from Mikkel Damsgaard, pushing the ball into the net from a close range just 17 minutes into the game.
Shortly after, in the 27th minute, Bryan Mbuemo sliced in from the right side and unleashed a curling shot that found the back of the net.
Captain Christian Norgaard then put the match beyond reach with a skillful header, effectively sealing Leicester’s fate 33 minutes in.
The first half could have been even more disastrous for Leicester, who witnessed Kristoffer Ajer’s shot ring off the post shortly before the break. Additionally, a goal by Keane Lewis-Potter was ruled out due to a handball infraction.
The arrival of Facundo Buonanotte nearly an hour into the game offered a spark to the home side; however, it was too little, too late for a team that languishes second from the bottom in the league standings and has failed to score at King Power Stadium since December 8.
Fábio Carvalho capped off Brentford’s scoring late in the game, further emphasizing their dominance.
Notably, this match marked the first occasion that Brentford netted three goals in the first half of an away game in the Premier League.
On the contrary, Leicester City faced an unwanted record, becoming the first team in Premier League history to lose six consecutive home matches without scoring in the same season.
