TROY, Ala. — In an intense matchup, Mostapha El Moutaouakkil propelled Louisiana to a narrow victory over Troy with a standout performance, racking up 25 points. Kentrell Garnett delivered a crucial three-pointer with just 16.9 seconds remaining, giving Louisiana a 72-69 lead on Thursday night.

El Moutaouakkil’s contribution extended beyond his scoring, as he secured seven rebounds and made three steals, underscoring his all-around impact for the Ragin’ Cajuns (10-18, 7-8 in the Sun Belt Conference). Zeke Cook complemented his team’s effort with 15 points, showcasing an impressive shooting clinic by hitting 4 of 6 from the floor and going perfect from the free-throw line at 7 for 7, while also contributing 11 rebounds. Garnett rounded off the scoring with 14 points, shooting 6 for 12 and sinking 2 out of his 5 attempts from three-point territory.

On the other side, the Trojans (17-10, 10-5) were spearheaded by Tayton Conerway, who nearly recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. Thomas Dowd also made his presence felt with 11 points and seven rebounds, alongside Jackson Fields who chipped in with 11 points and two blocks.
