BOONE, N.C. — In an exhilarating overtime showdown, Myles Tate showcased a remarkable performance, scoring 26 points to lead Appalachian State to a 79-74 victory against Georgia Southern on Thursday night.
Tate not only excelled in scoring but also contributed significantly on both ends of the court, securing seven rebounds and dishing out five assists to help his team improve to a 17-10 overall record and 10-5 in the Sun Belt Conference. CJ Huntley was another standout for the Mountaineers, netting 25 points with an impressive shooting performance: 8 of 14 from the field, including 1 of 4 from beyond the arc, and converting 8 of 12 free-throw attempts. Huntley also made an impact on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds. Jalil Beaubrun also contributed to the team’s success, scoring 11 points after hitting 4 of 5 from the field and 3 of 7 at the free-throw line.
For Georgia Southern, Adante’ Holiman led the team’s effort with 20 points, demonstrating his scoring prowess. He was followed closely by Bradley Douglas who added 18 points, and Tyson Brown, who contributed with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
