ATLANTA — In a decisive performance, Aziaha James and Zoe Brooks each contributed 17 points to help No. 13 N.C. State secure an impressive 83-68 victory over No. 20 Georgia Tech on Thursday night.

Saniya Rivers added 16 points, while Madison Hayes contributed 14 for N.C. State (21-5, 13-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), marking a strong comeback after a narrow 66-65 defeat to No. 12 North Carolina on Sunday, which had snapped their nine-game winning streak.

Hayes, who netted two 3-pointers, played a crucial role in the third quarter, where N.C. State outpaced Georgia Tech 24-17. She began the fourth quarter with another three-pointer, pushing the lead to 69-53. Georgia Tech attempted to rally with an 8-0 run, narrowing the gap to 71-63 with just over seven minutes remaining, but they couldn’t close the distance further.

James dominated the first half with 15 points, while Hayes took control in the second half, finishing with 11. Together, they accounted for seven of the Wolfpack’s eight successful three-point shots during the game.

For Georgia Tech (21-6, 9-6), Tonie Morgan led the scoring with 17 points, followed closely by Dani Carnegie with 16 points. Kara Dunn contributed 11 points, and Kayla Blackshear added 10 points along with nine rebounds.

This victory marked N.C. State’s dominance in recent matchups, securing nine wins in the last 11 meetings against Georgia Tech. Moreover, it was their first victory in Atlanta since their December 31, 2020 win of 84-75.

N.C. State will look to extend their 19-game home winning streak as they prepare to host the top-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday. On the other hand, Georgia Tech is set to face Florida State in their final regular-season home game also scheduled for Sunday.
