Bears reveal coaching staff under new head coach Ben Johnson

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson is gearing up for his inaugural season, leading a team that features a coaching staff of 28 assistants as announced on Thursday.

This new coaching lineup brings in fresh faces, including Declan Doyle and Dennis Allen, who have been appointed as offensive and defensive coordinators after their recent hiring last month. Among the staff, special teams coordinator Richard Hightower is notable as one of the eight assistants retained from the previous regime under former coach Matt Eberflus.

In addition to the aforementioned coordinators, the team welcomes several new hires, such as Eric Bieniemy, who previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders, now stepping into the role of running backs coach. Antwaan Randle El has been brought on as the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach, while former Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl cornerback Al Harris takes on the role of defensive backs coach.

As he steps into this pivotal role, Johnson faces the challenge of revitalizing a squad that ended the previous season at the bottom of the NFC North with a 5-12 record. His reputation as a leading coaching candidate stems from a successful tenure over the past three years as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, where he demonstrated his capabilities in developing an effective offense.
