GLENDALE, Ariz. — During a spring training matchup against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller was struck in the head by a sharply hit line drive. Fortunately, he was able to leave the field on his own after the incident.

The concerning event took place in the third inning when Michael Busch launched a powerful 105.5 mph liner that collided with Miller’s right temple, located where his hat meets his head. After being hit, Miller immediately went down to the ground, clutching his head. Medical personnel quickly rushed to his side, but he managed to rise to his knees shortly afterward.

Following the hit, Miller exited the game, walking off the field without assistance. Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts commented on the incident, stating that the ball “squared him up pretty good.”

Roberts updated reporters on Miller’s condition, indicating that the young pitcher would undergo concussion protocol. “We’ll keep an eye on him tonight,” he added, noting uncertainty about Miller’s status for future games. “Certainly, it’s somewhat of a setback. We’ve got to make sure he feels OK going forward.”

The 25-year-old right-handed pitcher was vying for a position in the starting rotation during spring training, but the duration of his absence due to Thursday’s injury remains uncertain. Last season, Miller recorded a 2-4 record with an 8.52 ERA over the course of 13 starts.
