In northwestern Syria, a tragic incident occurred on Thursday when an unexploded explosive device detonated inside a residence, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, which included two women and a child.
The Syrian Civil Defense, commonly referred to as the White Helmets, reported that the device was likely transported into the home located in the town of Nairbab before it exploded, causing significant destruction to the property.
Following the explosion, rescue efforts are continuing as the group is actively searching for any additional victims who may be trapped beneath the debris.
Since the outbreak of the conflict in Syria that began in March 2011, the presence of numerous mines, homemade explosive devices, and other forms of unexploded ordnance has resulted in countless injuries and fatalities throughout the country.
The ongoing civil war in Syria has led to an estimated half a million deaths and has displaced around half of the nation’s pre-war population, which was approximately 23 million.
