During a flight back to Washington on Air Force One, a reporter inquired about whether Elon Musk might initiate budget reductions at the Pentagon.

President Donald Trump’s answer may have raised eyebrows for those not closely following the recent discussions from Musk’s social media activity.

Trump suggested that Musk would be examining Fort Knox, the famed U.S. gold reserve located in Kentucky.

His reasoning? “To ensure that the gold is there,” Trump articulated.

A second reporter appeared confused and asked where the gold could possibly have gone.

“If the gold is missing, we’re going to be very upset,” Trump responded.

Musk, renowned as the wealthiest individual in the world, was accompanying the Republican president on the flight. He has been vocal about this matter on social media for several days.

“Who is confirming that gold wasn’t stolen from Fort Knox?” he tweeted earlier in the week. “Maybe it’s there, maybe it’s not.”

A user suggested, “LIVESTREAM IT,” to which Musk replied with two fire emojis, indicating enthusiasm for the idea.

Both Musk and Trump might consider consulting Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about the alleged conspiracy.

On the same day, Bessent addressed the issue in an interview with Dan O’Donnell, a talk show host from Wisconsin.

“We perform an audit annually,” Bessent explained. “All the gold is present and accounted for.”

O’Donnell noted, “This is evidently a concern for many people.” He remarked that Musk has committed to verifying the gold’s existence.

Bessent even offered to facilitate an inspection of Fort Knox for any interested senators, should they wish to confirm the status of America’s gold reserves.
