The South Alabama Jaguars secured a 60-56 victory against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Wednesday night, with Barry Dunning Jr. leading the charge by contributing 14 points to the team’s success.
Dunning also grabbed eight rebounds, showcasing his impact on both ends of the court for the Jaguars, who now stand at a record of 19 wins and 9 losses, including 11 wins and 4 losses in the Sun Belt Conference. Judah Brown added to the scoring efforts, netting 10 points with an efficient shooting performance—making 3 of 6 from the field and going a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line. Myles Corey contributed eight points, managing to shoot 2 of 8 overall, while also hitting 4 of 5 free-throw attempts.
For the Red Wolves, Joseph Pinion was the standout performer, racking up 17 points. Izaiyah Nelson made history by not only scoring 16 points but also pulling down an impressive 23 rebounds, making him the eighth player in the program’s history to achieve at least 23 boards in a single game. Additionally, Nelson showcased his defensive skills by recording three blocks. Kobe Julien also made a notable contribution, scoring eight points along with four assists and two steals, but it wasn’t enough to secure the victory for Arkansas State, who now holds a record of 19-9 overall and 10-5 in their conference play.
