BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Pjay Smith Jr. stood out with an impressive performance, netting 32 points to guide Furman to an 80-72 victory over Samford on Wednesday evening.
Smith also contributed defensively, securing four steals for the Paladins, who now boast a record of 20 wins and 8 losses, with 8 victories and 7 defeats in the Southern Conference.
In addition to Smith’s stellar play, Cooper Bowser played a significant role by scoring 16 points and grabbing six rebounds, while Nick Anderson chipped in with 13 points, making 4 of 10 attempts from the floor, including 3 of 8 from beyond the arc.
On the opposing side, Jaden Brownell led the Bulldogs in scoring, finishing with 25 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Josh Holloway and Trey Fort also contributed for Samford with 14 points each.
Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, with Furman slated to host VMI and Samford set to face Western Carolina.
