In a matchup on Wednesday night, Mercer’s basketball team secured a 62-52 win over The Citadel, with Ahmad Robinson leading the Bears with an impressive performance. He tallied 21 points, while also contributing five rebounds and seven assists, aiding Mercer to improve their record to 12-16 overall and 5-10 in the Southern Conference.
Marcus Overstreet was another standout for Mercer, adding 13 points along with a commendable 13 rebounds. Brady Shoulders showcased his shooting accuracy, going 4 for 7 from the floor, accumulating 10 points, and grabbing 12 rebounds. This victory was significant, as it snapped a five-game losing streak for the Bears.
On the other side, Brody Fox was the top scorer for The Citadel, putting up 23 points and securing six rebounds. Christian Moore also made a noticeable contribution with 14 points and eight rebounds. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, this loss extended their current losing streak to 18 games, putting them at 5-21 for the season and 0-15 in conference play.
Looking ahead, both teams have another game lined up for Saturday. Mercer will host UNC Greensboro, while The Citadel plans to travel for a game against Chattanooga.
