Nelson scores 25 as Eastern Michigan defeats Miami (Ohio) 76-66

    YPSILANTI, Mich. — Da’Sean Nelson contributed significantly to Eastern Michigan’s basketball victory over Miami (Ohio), scoring 25 points in a game that ended with a score of 76-66 on Tuesday evening.

    Alongside his scoring, Nelson also achieved eight rebounds and blocked four shots, showcasing his defensive skills. The Eagles now hold a record of 13 wins and 13 losses, with a conference record of 6-7 in the Mid-American Conference. Jalen Terry was another standout player for Eastern Michigan, netting 24 points on an efficient shooting night, going 7 for 13 from the floor. Terry also demonstrated his versatility by hitting 3 of his 6 attempts from beyond the arc and converting 7 out of 8 free throws, all while contributing nine rebounds and three steals. Jalin Billingsley added to the scoring with 12 points, shooting 6 of 10 from the field.

    On the opposing side, the RedHawks, who have a solid season record of 19 wins and 7 losses and a conference standing of 10-3, were led by Eian Elmer, who scored 19 points. Additionally, Kam Craft contributed 11 points to the team’s effort.

    Eastern Michigan gained control of the game early on, taking the lead with 12 minutes and 15 seconds remaining in the first half and holding it for the rest of the contest. By halftime, they held a comfortable 35-23 advantage, thanks in part to Terry’s impressive 17 points in the first half. Nelson’s strong performance continued into the second half, where he added 18 more points to his tally.
