BOSTON — Charlie McAvoy, a defenseman for the Boston Bruins, has been ruled out of the championship match for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off due to an undisclosed upper body injury, as confirmed by his NHL team on Tuesday.

Head coach Mike Sullivan announced that Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks, who is also a former Norris Trophy recipient, will take McAvoy’s place on the squad. Hughes has recently been sidelined, missing the last four games for the Canucks and had opted out of the international tournament just before it commenced.

Team USA is gearing up to face Canada in the final match scheduled for Thursday night at the TD Garden, promising to be an exciting showdown.
