In Bradenton, Florida, the Pittsburgh Pirates have officially signed outfielder Tommy Pham to a one-year deal valued at $4,025,000. This announcement came on Sunday, marking an important addition to their roster.

To make space for Pham, the Pirates have placed right-handed pitcher Dauri Moreta on the 60-day injured list. As Pham prepares to turn 37 next month, he brings with him experience from a varied season where he played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox, and Kansas City Royals. Last season, he recorded a batting average of .248, along with 20 doubles, nine home runs, and 39 runs batted in.

Throughout his 11 years in Major League Baseball, Pham has maintained a career batting average of .258, accumulating a total of 139 home runs, 470 RBIs, and 126 stolen bases. His journey has included stints with notable teams such as St. Louis (from 2014-2018, and again in 2024), Tampa Bay (2018-2019), San Diego (2020-2021), Cincinnati (2022), Boston (2022), the New York Mets (2023), as well as the White Sox and Royals.

Pham’s addition to the Pirates enhances their outfield depth, complementing established players like Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz. As the team looks to improve its performance, Pham’s versatility and experience could play a significant role in their success this upcoming season.
