Seton Hall snaps 9-game skid, triumphs 69-68 against UConn in overtime

    NEWARK, N.J. — In a thrilling game on Saturday, Seton Hall celebrated a significant 69-68 triumph over Connecticut, marking the end of their nine-game losing streak. Isaiah Coleman emerged as a standout with 23 points, while Scotty Middleton provided the decisive moment by tipping in his own missed shot just three seconds before the overtime horn.

    The momentum shifted in favor of Connecticut when Tarris Reed Jr. executed a layup to secure a 68-63 advantage for the Huskies with under a minute remaining. However, Seton Hall responded with composure; Godswill Erheriene converted two free throws at the 48-second mark, followed by Coleman who added another pair with just nine seconds left, narrowing the gap to a single point.

    As regulation was about to conclude, Seton Hall’s Dylan Addae-Wusu spectacularly nailed a three-pointer with only five seconds left, leveling the score at 58 and sending the game into overtime. UConn’s Solomon Ball had attempted a three-pointer but missed, preventing the Huskies from clinching victory in regulation.

    Throughout the game, Coleman also contributed with eight rebounds, showcasing his all-around performance. Addae-Wusu added 13 points to the scoreboard for Seton Hall, while Erheriene finished with 12 points. For Connecticut, Alex Karaban led the team with 20 points, alongside six rebounds and three blocks. Solomon Ball also made an impact with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Hassan Diarra’s performance included 12 points, five assists, and two steals.

    During the first half, Coleman scored eight points, helping Seton Hall attain a slim lead of 25-22 by halftime. The second half saw Coleman leading the Pirates with 11 points, while Erheriene stepped up in overtime contributing four points.

    Looking ahead, UConn is set to face Villanova on Tuesday, while Seton Hall will travel to take on No. 18 Marquette also on Tuesday.
