    MOBILE, Ala. — In a thrilling matchup, Barry Dunning Jr. scored 34 points, guiding South Alabama to a 70-65 victory over Texas State in overtime on Saturday night.
    Dunning, a remarkable contributor, also secured 11 rebounds, helping the Jaguars improve their record to 18-9 overall and 10-4 in the Sun Belt Conference. Elijah Ormiston supported the team’s efforts by adding 15 points, showcasing his shooting skills by connecting on 3 of 10 attempts from the field and going an impressive 9 of 10 from the free-throw line while contributing three blocks. Myles Corey rounded out the scoring with eight points, hitting 2 of 5 shots from the field and converting 4 of 5 free throws.

    During the overtime period, Dunning set the tone for the Jaguars by making two free throws just over two minutes in, allowing South Alabama to maintain the lead for the duration of the game.
    For Texas State, Tylan Pope stood out with a strong performance, tallying 20 points along with 15 rebounds, two steals, and three blocks. Josh O’Garro supported Pope’s efforts, scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Additionally, Dylan Dawson contributed with 10 points and two steals.

    Dawson’s pivotal moment came in regulation when he drained a 3-pointer to equalize the score at 60 with just 40 seconds remaining, ultimately forcing the game into overtime.

    Looking ahead, both teams have upcoming games on Wednesday. South Alabama will travel to face Arkansas State, while Texas State is set to host UL Monroe at home.
