MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Former West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Pat White is set to rejoin the program as the assistant quarterbacks coach and also serve as an assistant to the head coach.
Coach Rich Rodriguez made the announcement regarding White’s new role earlier this week. During his time as the starting quarterback from 2005 to 2008, White helped lead the Mountaineers to an impressive record of 35 wins and 8 losses, including four bowl victories.
He established an incredible 19 records that span school, Big East, and national levels. Notably, his 4,480 rushing yards rank him third among all Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks in history.
Since 2018, White has gained experience as an assistant coach at four different institutions, most recently with the Los Angeles Chargers for two seasons. Additionally, he worked as an athlete skills trainer in Alabama over the past year.
Rodriguez, who was head coach during three of White’s four seasons, returned to his alma mater in December to take over the coaching duties after the dismissal of Neal Brown.
Expressing his excitement about White’s return, Rodriguez said, “It’s really special to welcome Pat White back to Morgantown as a member of our football coaching staff. He has been involved in some of the biggest wins in program history, and he will be a great presence in our quarterback room. Pat and I have been through so much together, and I am really proud of the quality of coach and mentor to young players that he has become.”
White’s return marks a significant chapter in both his and the program’s ongoing legacy, as he looks to guide and inspire the next generation of quarterbacks at West Virginia.
