MUNICH — Jamal Musiala, the talented midfielder of Bayern Munich, has signed a contract extension with the club, securing his stay until June 2030. This announcement was made on Friday and comes as a significant boost for the Bavarian club, with the young star’s previous contract set to expire at the end of next season. Musiala, who joined Bayern’s youth team from Chelsea in 2019, has quickly risen to prominence within the team.
To celebrate this development, Bayern Munich showcased a playful image of Musiala dressed as a magician on their official website, alongside a contest offering fans a chance to win a jersey signed by the player. Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer expressed his delight, saying, “People go to the stadium for players like Jamal Musiala. He’s a truly exceptional player,” indicating how he believes the young talent defies conventional limits on the field. Hainer also praised the club’s management, calling it a great day for FC Bayern.
Musiala’s contract extension follows similar moves made by his teammates, including Alphonso Davies and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. However, some significant names, such as midfielder Joshua Kimmich and forwards Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller, are approaching the end of their contracts at the close of this season.
Last season, Musiala was instrumental in leading Bayern to the 2023 Bundesliga title, scoring the decisive goal against Cologne in the final match while Borussia Dortmund ended up drawing with Mainz. This season, he has already netted 10 goals and provided four assists in Bundesliga matches, raising his overall tally to 43 goals across 132 league appearances for Bayern. Additionally, Musiala has made a mark in the Champions League, scoring six times in 43 appearances.
“I believe in the potential of this club to achieve great things in the upcoming years,” Musiala remarked on the club’s website, expressing his strong connection to both Bayern Munich and its passionate fanbase. “I’ve taken my first professional steps here in Munich, and I truly feel at home.” Musiala’s ambitions with the club highlight the exciting future that lies ahead.
On the international stage, Musiala has also made contributions, scoring seven goals in 38 appearances for Germany. The young superstar clearly has a bright future ahead as he continues to develop his career with one of the biggest clubs in the world.
