BROOKINGS, S.D. — The South Dakota State Jackrabbits secured a solid victory against the Omaha Mavericks on Thursday night, winning 98-85, largely thanks to Oscar Cluff, who showcased an outstanding performance by scoring 25 points.

In addition to his scoring, Cluff also made significant contributions on the boards with 15 rebounds and facilitated plays with six assists, playing a crucial role in the team’s success. The Jackrabbits, now boasting a record of 17 wins and 9 losses, with 8 victories in the Summit League, saw notable performances from his teammates as well. Joe Sayler added 19 points, shooting 50% from the field and also hitting three out of five from beyond the arc, while going perfect from the free-throw line with six attempts. Owen Larson chipped in with 18 points, showing his shooting prowess by hitting four out of six from three-point territory.

On the other side, Marquel Sutton led the Mavericks with 20 points, matching teammate Tony Osburn, who also scored 20. JJ White contributed effectively with 12 points and provided eight assists, aiding his team’s efforts despite the loss. The Mavericks now hold a record of 16-11 overall and 10-2 in the league.

Looking ahead, South Dakota State will prepare for a road game against the South Dakota Coyotes this Sunday, while Omaha will be on the road as well, facing St. Thomas on Saturday in another key Summit League matchup.
