The USS Harry S. Truman, an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, was involved in a maritime incident with a merchant ship close to Port Said, Egypt, as reported by the Navy on Thursday.

The collision took place late Wednesday while both vessels were navigating the waters. Fortunately, the incident did not lead to any flooding or injuries on the carrier, and the integrity of the ship’s propulsion systems remained intact, according to a statement from the Navy.

Additionally, there were no injuries reported among the crew of the merchant vessel, identified as the Besiktas-M, as confirmed by a defense official who requested to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the information.

The USS Harry S. Truman is stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, and was deployed in September to operate in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions. Prior to this incident, the aircraft carrier had recently completed a port visit to Souda Bay, Greece.
