AMHERST, Mass. — In a competitive matchup on Wednesday night, Davidson secured a 77-68 victory over UMass, thanks in large part to the impressive performance of Reed Bailey, who scored 21 points for the Wildcats.

Bailey also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds during the game, which improved Davidson’s overall record to 15-9 and 5-6 within the Atlantic 10 Conference. Zach Laput was another key player, contributing 13 points with an efficient shooting performance, going 4 of 7 from the field and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Connor Kochera added to the team’s success with 12 points, managing to shoot 4 of 11 overall and hitting 3 of 4 from the charity stripe, although he struggled a bit from beyond the arc with just 1 of 4.

On the other side, the Minutemen were led by Jaylen Curry, who tallied 14 points. Daniel Rivera helped UMass with 12 points along with two steals, while Rahsool Diggins contributed 11 points and provided five assists, but their collective efforts were not enough to overcome Davidson’s momentum.

Davidson took control of the game towards the end of the first half, seizing the lead at 6:06 remaining and maintaining it for the rest of the contest. Reed Bailey shone particularly in the first half, scoring 13 points and aiding in building a 37-29 advantage at halftime.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to continue their seasons on Saturday. Davidson will host George Washington, and UMass is scheduled to welcome Saint Bonaventure to their home arena.
