Lawrence and Rhode Island edge out St. Bonaventure 68-64

KINGSTON, R.I. — In a nail-biting finish, Jamarques Lawrence netted 20 points, including a crucial four-point play with just 2.4 seconds to go, leading Rhode Island to a 68-64 victory over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday night.

Lawrence was not just a scorer; he also contributed defensively with four steals for the Rams, who now hold a record of 16-8 overall and 5-7 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. His teammate, David Green, impressed by scoring 18 points and shooting 54.5% from the field (6-for-11), along with nailing three 3-pointers out of seven attempts. Green also added seven rebounds and three blocks to his performance. Additionally, Sebastian Thomas chipped in with 15 points, shooting 5-for-13, including a 1-for-4 effort from beyond the arc, and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. He also contributed significantly with seven assists.

On the other side, Jonah Hinton led St. Bonaventure, scoring 18 points. Melvin Council Jr. had a commendable performance, contributing 16 points along with six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and three blocks. Noel Brown also made his presence felt with 16 points, four assists, and a pair of steals, while the Bonnies recorded a season mark of 17-9 and 5-8 in their conference play.

Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to take the court again this Saturday. Rhode Island will host La Salle, while St. Bonaventure will travel to UMass for their next matchup.
