    CULLOWHEE, N.C. — In an exciting Southern Conference matchup on Wednesday evening, Marcus Kell led Western Carolina to a 76-67 victory over East Tennessee State, contributing significantly with 18 points, along with 17 rebounds and three blocks for the Catamounts. This win improved Western Carolina’s record to 7-17 overall and 3-10 in the conference.

    Bernard Pelote also had a solid performance, putting up 13 points while securing six rebounds. Chevalier Emery supported the team well, scoring 13 points himself, converting 5 of 7 attempts from the field, and hitting 2 of 3 free throws.

    On the opposing side, the Buccaneers, who now hold a record of 15-11 overall and 8-5 in conference play, were spearheaded by Quimari Peterson, who scored 21 points, alongside making three steals and recording two blocks. John Buggs III aided the offense with 13 points, while Gabe Sisk also contributed with 12 points.

    Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to compete again on Saturday. Western Carolina will face off against Citadel at home, while East Tennessee State will be on the road to challenge Chattanooga.
