DOHA, Qatar — Elena Rybakina expressed her dissatisfaction on Wednesday regarding the WTA Tour’s choice to suspend her former coach, Stefano Vukov, following the governing body’s inquiry into a potential violation of its code of conduct.
Rybakina conveyed her feelings to reporters after winning against Rebecca Sramkova at the Qatar Open, stating, “I’m just disappointed with the situation, and how the process went. I’m not going to comment much on that anymore.”
On the previous day, the WTA announced the conclusion of its investigation into Vukov, confirming that his suspension would remain effective. However, the organization did not clarify the duration of the ban. Vukov, who has been under a provisional suspension, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
The 2022 Wimbledon champion reiterated her support for Vukov, declaring at last month’s Australian Open that he “never mistreated me” during their collaboration and expressed her disagreement with the initial provisional suspension.
