MANCHESTER, England — Manchester City forward Jack Grealish faced an injury setback during the Champions League playoff match against Real Madrid on Tuesday, exiting the pitch after just 30 minutes of play.

Grealish was seen crouching in his own half before receiving medical attention, prompting the decision to substitute him for Phil Foden.

While the exact nature of the injury was not immediately apparent, it seemed that the England international was experiencing discomfort, reportedly holding his groin while speaking with manager Pep Guardiola on the sidelines.

Despite his struggle, Grealish managed to walk off the field and down the players’ tunnel, albeit with a noticeable limp.

Since his high-profile transfer from Aston Villa to City in 2021, which was a record-breaking move costing 100 million pounds (approximately $139 million), Grealish has established himself as a key player for the team.

During his time with City, he has celebrated significant victories, including three Premier League titles and a prestigious treble in 2023, which encompassed triumphs in both the Champions League and FA Cup.

However, this season has been challenging for Grealish, who has only made six starts in the league.
