CLEVELAND — The Minnesota Timberwolves struggled significantly during their recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In a dismal display, they only managed to score two field goals in the first quarter, falling behind with a score of 30-10.
The Timberwolves had a rough start, missing their first 16 shots before All-Star Anthony Edwards finally hit a 3-pointer with just under five minutes remaining in the period.
At that point, the Cavaliers had already amassed a commanding 24-8 lead.
Minnesota didn’t manage to score again until Naz Reid added a layup just as the buzzer sounded.
Edwards, who had been nursing a sore hip and was considered questionable for the game, ended up shooting a disappointing 1 for 7 from the field, contributing to the team’s overall poor performance in that quarter.
They finished the first 12 minutes with just two field goals, marking a new low for the season in the NBA for a first quarter.
Furthermore, their total of 12 points tied their fewest scored in the first quarter throughout the season.
For a comparison, Oklahoma City previously held Phoenix to a mere 1-of-13 shooting performance in the third quarter on February 5.
