NEW ORLEANS — During the recent Super Bowl halftime performance by Kendrick Lamar, an incident occurred involving a performer who revealed a combined Sudanese-Palestinian flag that displayed the words “Sudan” and “Gaza.” This act has resulted in the performer being detained on the field and potentially facing charges.

The NFL has confirmed that the individual was part of the extensive 400-member cast that participated in the halftime show. According to the New Orleans Police Department, authorities are currently assessing the situation to determine the applicable charges against the performer.

Brian McCarthy, a spokesperson for the NFL, stated in an email that the performer would face a lifetime ban from attending all NFL events and accessing stadiums. The individual made their statement by standing on a vehicle used in the performance and displaying the flag. The NFL clarified that the flag was concealed on the performer’s body and was revealed towards the end of the show, asserting that no one involved in the production was aware of the individual’s plans.

Roc Nation, the company responsible for producing the halftime show, confirmed that this act was not part of the planned performance, nor was it included in any of the rehearsals leading up to the event.

Despite the unexpected incident, the halftime show proceeded without any interruptions, and it appeared that the individual’s actions did not make it to the broadcast of Kendrick Lamar’s performance. The event continued to unfold smoothly, maintaining the focus on the main act.
