Carlos Alcaraz claimed his inaugural indoor title by defeating Alex de Minaur in the final match at the Rotterdam Open on Sunday.
The top-seeded Alcaraz triumphed with scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 6-2, marking a historic moment as he became the first Spanish player to win this tournament, which has been held for 52 years.
This victory represents the 17th title in Alcaraz’s career at just 21 years old, and notably, it is his first title earned in an indoor setting.

Reflecting on his week at the tournament, Alcaraz expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This week has been a really good week. I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work. Initially, I didn’t feel 100 percent due to the cold, but day by day I improved.”
He also acknowledged the supportive crowd, saying, “It was my first time playing here, and you fans made it feel like I’ve been a part of this tournament for a long time.”

On the other hand, Alex de Minaur has now faced two consecutive finals at the Rotterdam Open, having lost to Jannik Sinner in the previous year’s final.
Commenting on his performance, the Australian player said, “We’re pushing for bigger and better achievements. It’s been two years with this runner-up trophy, and I am hopeful I’ll hold the winner’s trophy one day.”
