SAALBACH-HINTERGLEMM, Austria — At the recent world championships in men’s downhill skiing, Marco Odermatt and his fellow Swiss teammates took to the medal ceremony sporting strikingly unconventional haircuts.
Odermatt sported a unique style with a bald patch down the middle of his head, leaving the sides intact, while some of his teammates opted for a completely shaved head.
This quirky look was in honor of their teammates, Franjo von Allmen and Alexis Monney, who claimed the gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the event.
Despite his creative hairstyle, Odermatt narrowly missed out on a podium position, finishing fifth in the race held on Sunday.
The triumph of von Allmen marked a remarkable accomplishment for the Swiss team, completing a clean sweep in the speed events; Odermatt had previously secured victory in the super-G.
This success showcases the strength of Swiss skiing on the world stage, as they continue to excel in various disciplines.
