In Johannesburg, South Africa, fast bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been named as a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje in the squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy scheduled to be held in Pakistan. Bosch’s selection follows an impressive performance for MI Cape Town, where he took 11 wickets in eight matches, contributing significantly to the team’s victory in the SA20 championship. However, his debut in One Day Internationals (ODIs) against Pakistan last December was less remarkable, as he ended with disappointing bowling figures of 1 for 69 in nine overs.

Additionally, the selectors have included young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka as a traveling reserve for the tournament. South Africa has faced another setback with the withdrawal of Gerald Coetzee due to a groin injury, which was confirmed just before the team’s departure for Pakistan. Coetzee’s absence adds to the challenges the team is dealing with ahead of the Champions Trophy, which is set to start on February 19 in Karachi.

Corbin Bosch, Tony de Zorzi, and Kwena Maphaka are scheduled to depart for Karachi later this Sunday, and they are expected to be eligible for selection for South Africa’s final league match in the tri-nation series against Pakistan, taking place on Wednesday.

The South Africa squad includes: Temba Bavuma (captain), Corbin Bosch, Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, and Rassie van der Dussen.
