IRVINE, California — A stellar performance from Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones, who scored 22 points, propelled UC San Diego to an impressive 85-67 victory over UC Irvine on Saturday evening.
Tait-Jones was instrumental in the game, also contributing eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists for the Tritons, who now hold a record of 20-4 overall and 10-2 within the Big West Conference. Nordin Kapic had a strong outing as well, scoring 15 points with a shooting accuracy of 5 for 6, including a notable 3 for 4 from three-point range. Chris Howell also chipped in with 15 points, showcasing his shooting skills by going 5 for 8 from beyond the arc.
On the other side, Bent Leuchten stood out for the Anteaters, leading his team with a total of 23 points and seven rebounds. Devin Tillis made a valuable contribution as well, recording 13 points along with nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Myles Che matched Tillis’s scoring output with another 13 points for UC Irvine.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Thursday. UC San Diego will be making a trip to face Cal State Bakersfield, while UC Irvine is scheduled to host UC Santa Barbara at home.
