NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Nashville Predators put an end to their six-game losing streak, triumphing over the Buffalo Sabres with a score of 6-4 on Saturday evening. Brady Skjei and Filip Forsberg made significant contributions, each netting two goals in the contest.

In addition to Skjei and Forsberg’s performance, Jonathan Marchessault recorded a goal and two assists, while Tommy Novak also found the back of the net. Ryan O’Reilly showcased his playmaking abilities by dishing out a career-high four assists. Justus Annunen stood strong in goal, making a total of 25 saves to secure the victory.

For the Sabres, Alex Tuch excelled with a goal and two assists in a losing effort. Bowen Byram and Rasmus Dahlin both tallied a goal and an assist, and Dylan Cozens added another goal to the scoreboard. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, the Sabres’ goaltender, finished with 17 saves in the match.

The Predators jumped ahead early, establishing a 2-0 lead halfway through the first period, thanks to goals from Novak and Skjei. However, the Sabres responded with goals from Byram and Dahlin that leveled the score. The Predators regained control with Forsberg’s first goal of the game at 5:29 of the second period, followed swiftly by Skjei’s second goal just 42 seconds later. Tensions escalated in the third when Forsberg and Cozens exchanged goals.

In a pivotal moment of the game, Buffalo thought they had tied the match at 5-5 late in the third period with a goal by Zach Benson. However, the Predators challenged the play, and after a video review, the goal was disallowed due to an offside call.

On a noteworthy statistic, Byram’s first-period goal marked the milestone of his 100th career point in the NHL, followed by an assist to bring his total to 101.

Looking ahead, the Sabres will host the New York Rangers after the 4 Nations Face-Off, while the Predators will welcome the Colorado Avalanche, both games scheduled for February 22.
