TULSA, Okla. — In an exhilarating contest, South Dakota edged out Oral Roberts with a narrow 75-74 victory on Saturday night, highlighted by Chase Forte’s stellar performance, where he contributed 14 points.
Forte secured the win by sinking his second free throw with only three seconds remaining in the game. After a brief timeout taken by Oral Roberts, Issac McBride had the opportunity to clinch the game for his team but missed a crucial three-pointer as time expired.
The Coyotes improved their record to 15-10 overall and 6-4 in the Summit League, thanks in part to Forte’s eight rebounds. Paul Bruns made a significant impact as well, scoring 11 points while shooting 3 for 7 from the field, including one 3-pointer out of four attempts, alongside making four out of five attempts from the free-throw line. He too contributed with eight rebounds and three steals. Isaac Bruns also played a pivotal role, finishing the night with nine points, albeit on a challenging shooting night, going 3 for 12, and making just one of six shots from the three-point range.
On the other side of the court, the Golden Eagles struggled to find consistency but saw a standout performance from McBride, who led his team in scoring with 24 points. JoJo Moore was another key player for Oral Roberts, contributing 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Darius Robinson Jr. also made his mark by adding 11 points to the total.
This thrilling matchup showcased the intense competition within the league as both teams fought hard until the final buzzer.
