WASHINGTON — In a commanding performance, Trae Young delivered 35 points along with 14 assists, leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 125-111 victory against the Washington Wizards on Saturday evening.

Zaccharie Risacher made a strong contribution with 18 points, enabling the Hawks to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since achieving three straight victories in mid-January.

Making his debut for the Hawks following a trade from Cleveland, Georges Niang added 16 points to the team’s total. Meanwhile, rookie Bub Carrington shone for the Wizards, recording a career-high 23 points as Washington faced its second consecutive loss, ending a brief season-high three-game winning streak. Jordan Poole also contributed to the effort with 21 points, although he had scored a career-best 45 in a previous outing against Cleveland.

Notably, Niang was among three new players making their debut after trades. His former Cavaliers teammate, Caris LeVert, came off the bench to score nine points in just 15 minutes of play. Additionally, Terance Mann scored four points in 25 minutes after being acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in a multi-team deal.

On the Wizards’ side, Carrington’s outstanding play allowed the team to cut down a significant 23-point deficit to just seven points in the fourth quarter. However, Poole struggled with his three-point shooting, hitting only 1 of 8 attempts, which marked his fourth consecutive game of shooting 30% or lower from beyond the arc.

A critical moment came when Young exploded for 12 points during a 23-4 run by the Hawks, which spanned across halftime and transformed a six-point deficit into a commanding 69-58 lead.

The dynamic of the game was heavily influenced by the Hawks’ superior shooting from three-point range. Atlanta finished with a remarkable 40.9% accuracy (18 of 44) from beyond the arc, while the Wizards managed only 25% (9 of 36).

Looking ahead, the Wizards will host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, while the Hawks will travel to face the Orlando Magic.
