MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan triumphed over Texas State on Saturday night, with Jakobi Heady making a significant contribution off the bench, scoring 20 points in the team’s 85-70 victory.

Heady had an impressive performance, hitting 8 of his 12 shots from the field and converting 4 of 8 attempts from the free-throw line. He was supported by Ugnius Jarusevicis, who contributed 19 points, making 5 of 9 shots and 8 of 11 from the foul line, along with securing 14 rebounds. Additionally, Anthony Pritchard had a strong outing, shooting 6 of 11 and finishing with 17 points from the field, as well as going 5 for 6 on free throws.

On the other side, Texas State’s leading scorer was Tylan Pope, who put up 13 points. Kaden Gumbs added to the effort with 12 points and six assists, while Coleton Benson chipped in with 11 points.

Central Michigan held a 33-26 advantage at halftime, with Heady leading the scoring for his team with 11 points in that period. The Chippewas began to distance themselves in the second half, launching an 11-0 run that propelled their lead from seven points to 18. In a strong showing, Central Michigan outscored Texas State by eight points in the second half, with Pritchard notably scoring 13 points in that period alone.
