RIVERDALE, N.Y. — A thrilling finish unfolded on Saturday as Masiah Gilyard sank a crucial free throw with only two seconds remaining in overtime, leading Manhattan to a narrow victory over Saint Peter’s with a score of 84-83.
In the overtime period, Devin Dinkins played a pivotal role for the Jaspers, scoring nine points, including a key three-pointer and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Ultimately, he amassed 26 points, hitting 6-of-12 from the field, which featured 3-of-6 from behind the arc, while also achieving an impressive 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. His teammate Shaquil Bender contributed significantly as well, scoring 17 points with a shooting performance of 5-for-12, including 3-for-7 from three-point territory, and hitting all four of his free throws. Will Sydnor added to the tally, finishing with 16 points after shooting 5-for-17, of which three were from long range, and successfully making all three free throws attempted.
The Peacocks were led by Marcus Randolph, who was the standout scorer with 24 points. Bryce Eaton also made a solid contribution, recording 13 points, six rebounds, and five assists for Saint Peter’s. Additionally, Adetokunbo Bakare chipped in with 12 points and four assists in a competitive matchup.
Looking ahead, both teams will be back in action on Friday. Manhattan is set to host Merrimack, while Saint Peter’s will welcome Fairfield to their arena.
