In a thrilling match on Saturday, Rider University clinched a narrow 61-59 win over Siena, thanks to a last-second shot from Tank Byard. TJ Weeks Jr. was instrumental in the victory, contributing 23 points to the scoreline.
The game saw a tense finish when Brendan Coyle of Siena managed a layup with just 20 seconds remaining, bringing the teams to an even score. However, in a decisive moment, Byard gathered a missed shot from Flash Burton and succeeded in netting the winning basket as time expired.
Weeks also had a notable performance on the boards, securing seven rebounds alongside his points for the Broncs, who now hold a record of 9-15 overall and 5-8 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Aasim Burton supported the team’s offense with 15 points, while Byard rounded out the scoring by hitting 10 points on an efficient 5-for-7 shooting performance.
On the other side, Gavin Doty led the Saints with 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Justice Shoats contributed 13 points and made two steals, while Major Freeman added 12 points to Siena’s effort. The Saints now stand with an overall record of 11-13 and 6-7 in the conference.
