KENT, Ohio — In an exhilarating match on Saturday, Jalen Sullinger delivered a remarkable performance with 27 points, helping Kent State secure a narrow 76-75 triumph over Arkansas State. Jamal Sumlin contributed to the win by successfully making two crucial free throws with just 15 seconds remaining on the clock.

Sullinger showcased his skills by hitting 9 of 18 shots overall, which included a solid 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, along with a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line, supporting the Golden Flashes’ efforts to improve their record to 15-8. In addition, Marquis Barnett added 14 points, while Delrecco Gillespie also had an impressive outing, going flawless with 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting throughout the game.

On the other side of the court, the Red Wolves, who now hold a record of 18-7, were propelled by Joseph Pinion’s contribution of 20 points. Taryn Todd also played a significant role by contributing 17 points along with five assists and five steals. In a nail-biting conclusion, Izaiyah Nelson’s dunk with 25 seconds left on the clock gave Arkansas State a fleeting one-point lead. Nevertheless, in the waning moments, Nelson missed a layup and a subsequent tip-in attempt in the last three seconds, preventing the Red Wolves from completing their comeback.
