RALEIGH, N.C. — In a decisive victory, Seth Jarvis contributed significantly with two goals and two assists, leading the Carolina Hurricanes to a 7-3 win over Utah on Saturday, thus ending their three-game losing streak.
Sebastian Aho was another standout for Carolina, scoring two goals and adding an assist. The team struggled to find the net during their recent losing stretch, managing only three goals, but they exploded offensively in this match. Jalen Chatfield, Jordan Martinook, and Jack Roslovic also found the back of the net, while goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov made an impressive 36 saves, achieving his 20th win of the season.
For Utah, Clayton Keller netted two goals and Josh Doan contributed one, but the team was unable to replicate their prior two victories, both secured in overtime. Karel Vejmelka was busy in net, stopping 31 shots, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Hurricanes at bay.
The Hurricanes’ offensive surge was highlighted when they scored four goals, including Aho’s two markers, in the final 15 minutes of the second period, showcasing their capability to strike quickly.
In terms of takeaways, Keller’s performance allowed him to become the team leader with 20 goals, although Utah struggled during the critical second period of the match. On the flip side, Hurricanes players Andrei Svechnikov and Jackson Blake each recorded two assists, helping Carolina exact revenge for an earlier loss to Utah back in November.
A crucial moment in the game came during the second period when Aho scored a short-handed goal at 14:14, extending Carolina’s lead to 4-2, which shifted the momentum firmly in their favor.
Aho’s scoring tally solidified his status, marking the ninth consecutive season in which he reached the 20-goal milestone. He has been particularly productive lately, finding the net in six of his last nine games.
Looking ahead, Utah is set to face Washington on Sunday, while Carolina will have a break until they play at Toronto on February 22.
