PHILADELPHIA — In a thrilling conclusion, Jackson Hicke was fouled as the game concluded, and his two successful free throws secured a narrow 61-59 victory for Princeton against Pennsylvania on Friday night.
Dalen Davis made a pivotal 3-pointer that propelled Princeton ahead 59-58. However, with just 19 seconds remaining, Nick Spinoso brought the game to a tie by converting the first of his two free throw attempts.
For the Tigers, CJ Happy delivered an impressive performance, scoring 13 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Xaivian Lee contributed with 11 points and nearly matched him in rebounding with nine. Hicke scored 11 points as well, shooting 3 for 7 overall and making 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, while also excelling at the line with a perfect 4 for 4.
On the other side, Spinoso topped the scoring for the Quakers with 12 points. Sam Brown also made a considerable impact, matching Spinoso’s scoring total and adding three steals to his stats. AJ Levine offered valuable support with nine points and four steals.
Both teams are set to compete again on Friday, with Princeton preparing to visit Brown and Pennsylvania heading out to face Yale.
