The Arizona Diamondbacks have reached an agreement with Trey Mancini on a minor league contract as he strives to revitalize his career after sitting out all of last season. The team officially announced Mancini’s signing on Friday.

Mancini, 32, boasts an impressive record with 129 home runs across seven seasons in Major League Baseball, having played for the Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, and Chicago Cubs. He recorded his best performance in 2019 with the Orioles, hitting a remarkable 35 home runs.

His career took a challenging turn when he missed the 2020 season following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his colon. Bounce back he did, returning in 2021 with 21 home runs under his belt. The following season, he was traded to the Astros, contributing to their victory in the World Series.

Mancini’s last appearance in Major League Baseball was with the Cubs during the 2023 season, where he completed 79 games, hitting a batting average of .234 with four home runs. Last season, he signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins but was released towards the conclusion of spring training.
