MUNICH, Germany — Bayern Munich secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Friday, thanks to two second-half penalties from Harry Kane, as well as a goal from substitute Leroy Sané. This win boosts Bayern’s lead to nine points at the top of the Bundesliga standings.

The match began with Bayern demonstrating stronger play, but they didn’t manage to find the back of the net until the 61st minute. Kane notched his 20th league goal of the season by successfully converting a penalty after Anthony Jung was flagged for a handball in the area.

Just moments after coming on as a substitute for Kingsley Coman in the 81st minute, Leroy Sané extended the lead to 2-0. He skillfully evaded his defender to meet a cross from Konrad Laimer at the far post, showcasing his quick impact on the game.

Kane later sealed the match by scoring his second penalty during injury time, specifically in the ninth minute of added time.

Bremen’s goalkeeper, Michael Zetterer, made several crucial saves to keep the scoreline respectable, notably a stunning one-handed save from a header by Dayot Upamecano in the second half.

This victory marks Bayern’s tenth win in 11 home matches this season, as well as their eighth triumph in nine games across all competitions since the beginning of 2025. Currently, Werder Bremen is positioned in eighth place in the league standings.
