SMITHFIELD, R.I. — In an exciting matchup on Thursday night, Albany triumphed over Bryant with a score of 68-63, led by an impressive performance from Byron Joshua, who scored 22 points.
Joshua contributed with three steals, showcasing his defensive abilities for the Great Danes, who now stand at 12 wins and 12 losses, with a conference record of 4-5 in the America East.
Supporting Joshua were Justin Neely, who managed to score 12 points while shooting 5 for 12—though unsuccessful in three attempts from the three-point range—and grabbed nine rebounds. DeMarr Langford Jr. also played a key role in the victory, shooting 6 of 9 and ending the game with 12 points.
On the other side, Connor Withers led the Bulldogs with a strong showing, totaling 17 points along with five assists and four blocks. Earl Timberlake contributed 13 points, six rebounds, and five blocks to the Bulldogs’ performance. Barry Evans rounded out the scoring for Bryant with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, this loss snapped their impressive eight-game winning streak.
Both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday, with Albany hosting Vermont while Bryant prepares to face Binghamton.
