JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — In an impressive performance, Jaron Pierre Jr. led Jacksonville State to a commanding 77-63 victory over Middle Tennessee on Thursday evening, scoring a remarkable 36 points.
Pierre was exceptional from beyond the arc, sinking 10 three-pointers out of 16 attempts. His remarkable shooting not only secured his team’s success but also showcased his offensive prowess. The Gamecocks, who improved their record to 16-7 and 8-2 in Conference USA, had additional contributions from Koree Cotton, who contributed 17 points while making 6 of 10 shots, including hitting 5 of 6 from three-point territory. Michael Houge also made his mark with 13 points on 6 of 10 shooting, helping the team extend their winning streak to seven games.
On the other side, Jestin Porter was the standout for the Blue Raiders, finishing with 17 points. Additionally, Jlynn Counter made a notable impact with 11 points and eight rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Gamecocks’ momentum.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. Jacksonville State will play at home against Western Kentucky, while Middle Tennessee will make the trip to face Kennesaw State.
